Keep the subject in view when the format changes
A landscape interview and a vertical social clip need different compositions. Crop fills the new frame by removing edges; fitting the picture over a background preserves more of the original scene. Compare both with the preview before choosing the version you want to export.

Practical example
For a 16:9 interview going into a 9:16 frame, inspect both speakers before using crop. If one sits near an edge, a background may preserve the conversation better. Check several moments: a mid-video preview cannot represent every movement in the shot.

Questions about this tool
Should I choose crop or a background?
Crop works when the important subject stays near the center. A background is useful when edge details, several people or on-screen text must remain visible.
Can it export a 4K video?
The current export caps the longest side at 1920 pixels to limit memory use. It does not upscale footage into a higher-quality 4K source.
Does it automatically follow a moving face?
Framing is based on your selected settings. There is no automatic face tracking, so review movement before relying on a tight crop.
